
Tomato came to Europe, and thus to Poland, from South America thanks to Christopher Columbus. An interesting fact is that at first the tomato was considered a poisonous plant. This belief could have been confirmed by the smell of tomatoes, emitted by their stems and leaves. Nowadays, tomatoes are a healthy and tasty ingredient in many dishes. They belong to the main vegetables cultivated in Poland and constitute the main group of export vegetables.
In particular, their red pigment – lycopene is responsible for the valuable properties of tomatoes. This compound is one of the strongest antioxidants. In addition, tomatoes are a rich source of vitamins. They contain, among others, vitamin C, K and E, and vitamins from group B. Apart from that, these vegetables contain fibre, folic acid, biotin and a number of mineral compounds, such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium iron, zinc and manganese, especially valuable for us.

Pink Tomatoes – they are sweet in taste and have a lot of juice
Beef Tomatoes – smooth, spherical, shiny, tasty fruits
Vine Tomatoes – dark red, durable fruits. The twig and stalk keep the green colour vivid even after long storage
