The taste of home-grown apple trees’ apples is sweet and sour, the varieties may be more or less sweet or sour. The shape of apples is similar to a sphere, with a depression at the top, from which a petiole protrudes, on which the apple grows on a tree, and with the outlet of a seed nest at the bottom. On average, an apple weighs about 150 grams. The apple pulp is stiff, crunchy and full of transparent juice.
Fresh, undamaged apples contain vitamin C, most other vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, A and Retinol, E and tocopherol, D, K, β-Carotene, lycopene) and minerals, a large amount of vegetable fibre, quercetin (4 mg in 100 g of apples), as well as pectin (1÷1,5 g in 100 g of a fresh apple). The content of vitamin C is variable and depends on many factors, the most important of which are the variety, climatic conditions and the way of cultivation.
Fresh apples are a source of carbohydrates including fibre. Like many other fruits, raw apples are low on the glycaemic index (fructose and other sugars are released slowly from fibre, so the sugar content in the blood grows slowly, without sudden deviations) so they are recommended for consumption by people with diabetes or hyperglycaemia. This does not apply to apple juice – after the fibre has been separated, the glycaemic index increases in height.
The varieties of the apples offered:
Jonagored – the fruits are juicy, fragile, very delicate and are a little bit sweet and sour in taste
Golden Delicious – are characterized by a sweet taste and a pleasant aroma
Fuji – contain 9-11% of sugar, have a thick pulp that is sweeter and crisper than in other apples
Red Chief – sweet, crispy and extremely aromatic fruit.
Idared – the fruits are characterized by juiciness, slightly sour and average taste.
Najdared – white, hard, tight, juicy pulp
Red Jonaprince – the pulp is very compact, very hard, creamy-yellow, sweet and sour, aromatic
Royal Gala – this variety is characterized by pink flushed peel, the colour changes from yellow to orange, often with deep orange stripes. Gala is a round, sweet, white apple that is thick, sweet, aromatic and juicy.
